No regrets but I am very happy that my decision to work as a caregiver has given me satisfaction and pride in myself.

Since Ramadhan is approaching, how are you planning to prepare yourself as a care provider?
As a caregiver, your life is nearly always divided into two parts: your own and the life of the ones in your care. Your needs may be the same, but the details may differ.
We might feel more sluggish and fatigued than we normally would if we don’t prepare ourselves well for fasting and pace ourselves. The important thing to remember is to plan on how to tackle the daily tasks while fasting. I always make sure to keep my energy levels up, take care of my diet and most importantly, I will remind myself why I am doing this as a caregiver, which is to deliver the best care possible for my Care Recipients. These are things I usually do in order that my energy and well-being aren’t compromised.
In terms of diet, do you have any specific diet that you take to keep yourself energized and fresh?
At Ramadhan, I’ll take vitamins B, C, and D every morning duringSahur(a meal eaten early in the morning by Muslims before fasting) and avoid consuming carbonated beverages or iced water.
Sleep is also vital for preserving health and well-being, and not getting enough has consequences. Ramadan, when social plans can keep individuals awake long into the night, is one of the most prevalent times for disrupted sleep routines. I’ll always make an effort to get at least 6 hours of sleep in order to maintain my body refreshed and revitalised throughout the day while fasting.
How do you change your mindset to manage your energy expenditure at work?
Feeling more energized lets you accomplish more in a day, and the best news is that getting more energy isn’t that hard. Mental is the focus of your energy – so I always remind myself of the purpose of choosing to work as a caregiver which requires sincerity in helping the elderly while being able to generate income. Unfortunately, many less fortunate individuals throughout the world may not be able to enjoy Ramadan and Eid as well as we are. We are taught as Muslims to be courteous, compassionate, and charitable to all people, regardless of religion, color, or gender. When better to do so than during the most important time of the year? That keeps me going and inspired to accomplish my career!
How do you manage your time to be productive at work while also making sure that you’re making the most out of Ramadan? Eg:taraweh, sunatdeeds.
Many individuals become engrossed in their job, family duties, and relaxation, resulting in lessIbadah(acts of worship) than expected. During Ramadan, I will only accept jobs that require me to work during the day so that I can performTarawehprayer and moreIbadahat night. We’d all like to spend Ramadan practicing acts of worship 24 hours a day, but this isn’t possible, and most of us have other duties to attend to.
This may be prevented by determining how much time you will have everyday forIbadahand then making objectives to do as muchIbadahas possible.
Do you have any powerful practical tip for caregivers out there, to stay focused and still do a good job even on less energy and sleep?
During the fasting month, we must fast from sunrise and sunset. We need to consume nutritious foods that are also filling, such as plain rice/brown rice/bread. If we consume more fried foods, such as fried noodles, fried kuih, and fried chicken/fish, our bodies may become weaker (lazy) and less energetic (maybe too much oil in body).
Make sure we get enough sleep (at least 6 hours each day) and eat nutritious foods, particularly fruits and salad!
